In Leeuwarden, the next few years will be intensively dedicated to the Kenniscampus. The three colleges, the town council of Leeuwarden and the provincial government of Fryslân are cooperating to realize the campus next to the Rengerspark.
The buildings meet the demands of new educational concepts with modern facilities. In an inspiring atmosphere an environment is created which is ideal for studying, working, playing sports and relaxing. The education and the facilities are being geared to one another and extended, which makes studying in Leeuwarden even more attractive.
According to the plan 16,000 students and 2,000 employees will eventually live, work and study on the new campus. The educational buildings of the NHL Hogeschool and Stenden Hogeschool are situated along a central square and the entrance of both schools is here. This square will also offer shops, outdoor cafés and useful services such as a cash dispenser and a copy shop. The designers of the square will make sure it contains lots of green as well as water.
Swimming pool ‘De Blauwe Golf’ (The Blue Wave) will be surrounded by a huge variety of sports facilities as well as large events yard for festivities.
Between the campus, the town centre (5 min.) and the train/bus station (10 min.) new cycle paths and footpaths will be built.
