If you are a fan of theatre, Leeuwarden has a lot to offer. In Stadsschouwburg de Harmonie major productions as well as small and less familiar performances are staged.
There are also a great number of smaller theatres and cafés that put on shows and performances. On top of this, student associations quite often have an ‘open stage’.
During summertime you can enjoy free concerts in the Prinsentuin every Sunday.
Cinemas
Leeuwarden is the right place for those who like to go to the movies. There are two cinemas and an art cinema. The sneak previews on Tuesday nights are very popular.
The Noordelijk filmfestival (Northern Film Festival) is famous. Every November this event will give you an opportunity to watch the most magnificent movies for an entire weekend. Students get a discount at the art cinema.
