It is easy to get to Leeuwarden by public transport. Twice every hour a train departs to and arrives from ‘De Randstad’. You can travel by NS-Intercity.
Leeuwarden has a direct train connection with Groningen via Arriva (opens in a new window).
There are also train connections to Sneek, Stavoren, and Harlingen. The connection to Harlingen comes in very handy if you return to either one of the islands Terschelling or Vlieland, for the weekend.
In and around Leeuwarden you can travel by bus very easily. There are city busses which cross the entire town, so you can get to every place without a problem. There are also special busses that, at frequent times, take you to the educational institutes.
